Back in the early seventies, I owned a restaurant called “Abraxas.” It was an exotic Mexican food establishment. Instead of using themes such as Cantimflas, burros, mercados, sombreros y serapes, siestas, etc. I used an Aztec theme. I had rich artwork of pyramids painted on the walls (I had the walls painted orange and then the artwork was ‘blacked-in.’), exhibits of pre-Colombian artifacts, soft lighting; mainly yellow and orange lights, and oil lamps on the tables.
After a year, I had to expand the place. I added about 622 sq. ft to the back of the building for the new kitchen and where the old kitchen was, I built booths where one can draw a curtain for privacy if one wished.
It was a hip place! People would often leave doobies or rails for tips!
When I was laying out space for my new office, the cognition hit me!
