I love the approach of Valentine’s day!
Women go to such great lengths to pick the perfect card that they get so wrapped up in looking at Valentine’s cards that some are oblivious to what they are doing with their feet.
I almost lost a finger today at the local card shop.
The first lady to smash my finger wore black Dansko clogs. She was standing with her weight on her left leg and the outer side of her right shoe was raised. I faced the cards on the rack behind her but stuck my index finger between her right heel and the carpet. It took forever but she eased her weight onto her right foot and pinned my finger flat! She stood that way for 3-4 minutes. When she finally lifted her heel, you could see every line of her sole!
I was just getting feeling back and hoping to use my other hand when opportunity knocked again. A lady with black wedge heeled boots was kneeling with her right heel lifted. I stuck my index finger where her heel would hit. She stood up and scored a direct hit. She looked down but didn’t apologize as she lifted her heel.
She stepped closer and huffed as she tried to reach over me a couple of times to reach the ones behind me. I didn’t move. I just laid my finger right beside her boot. She stepped forward a half step and landed on my finger. She lifted her foot a little and gave me an insincere “oops.” When I didn’t move it she put her sole back down an crushed it flat every time she leaned onto that foot.
I figured my luck may run out so I moved it the next time I had a chance and headed out to see the damage.
