This is a technique I thought of while working at the gym as an aerobics instructor. When a new guy comes in for a workout programme many of them are quite soft and flabby, but it only takes a matter of weeks for them to harden up. The problem is because the change happens slowly it is difficult for many of them to see the difference. What I sometimes do is get them to lie on their backs and then I step on their stomach with one foot, full weight.
“See how my foot is sinking into your stomach,” I tell them. “see how the fat in your stomach has folded up on each side of my foot,” I say as I squirm my foot around on their body. Two weeks later I do the same thing again, and it’s a wonder what a few weeks of weight training does. “See how my foot is up on top of your stomach now, you can easily support my whole weight with no effort! That’s the difference just a couple of weeks of training has made to you”
The technique has worked so well that another of the female instructors is doing it too, maybe I’ve started a new trend on fitness tests.
